Why we’d go

Sabbaba is one of Bondi's long-running budget falafel counters, and it's the kind of place we'd point you to when you want a fast, filling, plant-forward feed without a sit-down commitment. The menu leans hard into chickpea-and-tahini territory — flavoured falafel balls, generous pita pockets, salad-loaded plates and bowls, plus dips and hot chips — and almost everything can be built vegetarian or vegan. Now on Campbell Parade after years at its old Hall Street home, it stays open late, which makes it a reliable after-beach or post-swim refuel.

What to order

A stuffed falafel pita pocket or a falafel plate/bowl loaded with salads and hummus; add a side of hot chips (cooked without animal fats).

The atmosphere

Casual, no-frills, order-at-the-counter and go — busy and lively at peak beach hours.

Local tip: It's takeaway-first with limited seating, so our move is to grab a pita pocket and eat it across the road on the grass or the promenade rather than hovering for a table.

Worth knowing: This is fast, functional falafel rather than a destination meal — don't come expecting a proper sit-down dining experience or an ocean-view fit-out.
