Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 November 2026
Visit Bondi Beach is a travel guide. You don’t need an account to read it, and we don’t ask you for your name, your email address or any other personal detail. This page explains the small amount we do collect, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
We measure how the site is used so we know which guides are worth keeping up to date. For each page view we record the page address and title, the language of the page, the website you arrived from (if any), a two-letter country code, and the time.
We also store two randomly generated identifiers so we can tell a returning reader from a new one and group page views into a single visit. They are random numbers. They are not built from your IP address, your device or anything else about you, and they cannot be linked back to you.
We do not store your IP address in any form. The country code comes from our hosting provider, which resolves it before the request reaches us; we never see or keep the address it was resolved from. We don’t collect your precise location, and we don’t attempt to fingerprint your device.
Cookies
We set two cookies of our own:
vbb_vid- the random visitor identifier described above. It lasts 400 days.vbb_sid- the random visit identifier. It expires 30 minutes after you stop reading.
Both are httpOnly, which means no JavaScript on the page can read them - including ours. Google Analytics sets its own cookies as well; see below.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 alongside our own measurement. It sets its own cookies and sends data to Google, which may use it for its own purposes, including advertising personalisation. That is Google’s processing, not ours, and it is governed by Google’s own privacy terms.
You can opt out with Google’s official browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by blocking cookies for this site. Blocking either kind of analytics does not change how the site works for you.
Advertising
We don’t show ads. There is no advertising network on this site, no ad personalisation of our own, and nothing on these pages is a paid placement.
Booking and affiliate links
Some links to booking sites are affiliate links: if you book through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Most of our booking links earn us nothing at all. Either way, a commission never changes what we recommend or the order we list it in.
When you follow one of these links you leave Visit Bondi Beach, and the site you land on collects data under its own privacy policy, not this one.
Who else sees your data
Our measurement data is stored in our own database and is not sold, rented or shared with anyone. The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes requests on our behalf and keeps its own standard server logs. Google receives analytics data as described above. That is the complete list.
How long we keep it
Page-view records are kept while they are useful for understanding how the site is read, and are not tied to an identifiable person at any point. The visitor cookie expires on its own after 400 days.
Your choices
You can clear or block cookies for this site in your browser at any time, which stops both our measurement and Google’s. Because we hold nothing that identifies you, there is normally nothing for us to look up, correct or delete on request - but if you think we hold something about you, ask and we will check.
Children
This is a general travel guide and is not directed at children. We don’t knowingly collect anything from them.
