Best for: A pre- or post-beach bagel run in North Bondi

Restaurant in North Bondi
A long-running, family-run kosher Israeli grill a block back from the north end of the beach, turning out handmade falafel, fresh pita and generous shawarma plates at cheap-eats prices.
Formerly Savion.
Savion is the kind of unpretentious, home-kitchen Israeli joint that's become genuinely rare in Bondi, and it's been doing it on Wairoa Avenue for years. The falafel and pita are made by hand rather than pumped out of a machine, the salads and toppings pile up generously, and you'll pay very little for a properly filling meal. If you want authentic Middle Eastern food without the beachfront markup, this is our pick in North Bondi.
Handmade falafel plates, lamb or chicken shawarma, hummus with fresh pita, and chicken schnitzel — loaded up with the salad and pickle toppings.
Casual, warm and homey — closer to eating in someone's kitchen than a polished restaurant.
Local tip: It's cash only and keeps daytime hours (roughly 10am–6pm), and like a proper kosher kitchen it closes for Shabbat — shut Saturdays and winding down early Friday afternoon, so plan a weekday or Sunday visit and bring notes.
Worth knowing: Cash-only, daytime-only trading and a no-frills fit-out mean it's a lunch-run rather than a sit-down dinner destination.
Hours, prices and menus change — always check the venue’s own site before you go. Spotted something out of date? We keep this directory current; details reflect our last check.
