Café in North Bondi
A cosy corner cafe tucked on a leafy North Bondi backstreet — formerly Bobby's Corner, now trading as G'day Bondi Cafe — doing Aussie-Asian brunch with a covered garden out back and Thai dinners on weekend nights.
Formerly Bobby's Corner Bondi (also traded as Bobby's Corner Cafe, then Bondie Corner).
This is the neighbourhood cafe a few blocks back from the sand, where the crowd is more local dog-walkers and families than beach tourists. The kitchen leans into an Australian brunch menu with genuine Thai and wider Asian influence — the same hands that plate hotcakes and eggs benny in the morning turn out traditional Thai dishes on Friday and Saturday evenings, which is an unusual and welcome twist for a suburban cafe. We'd choose it when you want a relaxed, unhurried feed in a garden setting rather than a see-and-be-seen beachfront table.
Our steer is the all-day brunch staples — the signature hotcakes, eggs bene, and the Aussie-Asian fusion plates (think tom-yum-inflected pasta); if you're here on a Friday or Saturday night, the kitchen's Thai dinner is the reason to come back.
Sunny, low-key and residential — indoor tables plus a covered back garden and street-side seats, with a kids' play area and dogs welcome.
Local tip: Come for the weekend Thai dinner service (Fri–Sat) — most people only know this address for its daytime brunch, so the evening menu is a genuine neighbourhood secret. Check the current name signage: it's changed hands/branding, so map apps may still list it as Bobby's Corner or Bondie Corner.
Worth knowing: No ocean views and a short walk back from the beach — this is a residential-street cafe, not a beachfront one, and it can get busy with locals on weekend mornings.
Hours, prices and menus change — always check the venue’s own site before you go. Spotted something out of date? We keep this directory current; details reflect our last check.
