Restaurant in North Bondi
A relaxed Campbell Parade seafood restaurant a few minutes back from North Bondi Beach, splitting the difference between an old-school fish-and-chippery and a sushi bar.
Bondi's Best began life as a fishmonger before growing into a full-service restaurant, and that heritage shows in a menu that swings from beer-battered fish and chips, crumbed calamari and potato scallops to sushi, sashimi and miso soup prepared by dedicated sushi chefs. We'd choose this when you want proper fresh seafood without the beachfront pricing or the wait for a view table, in a laid-back room with a beachy vibe. It's the kind of dependable, unfussy local spot that suits a casual family dinner as easily as a takeaway feed to eat down at the sand.
Beer-battered fish and chips, crumbed calamari and potato scallops from the Aussie side; sushi and sashimi from the raw bar. Sweet potato chips are a frequently praised side.
Relaxed, lively and unpretentious dining room with a beachy feel
Local tip: It sits back on Campbell Parade rather than on the sand, so our move is to order takeaway and walk it the couple of minutes down to North Bondi for a proper ocean-view feed.
Worth knowing: Being off the sand, there are no ocean views from the room itself, and the fry-and-sushi format is casual rather than a special-occasion sit-down.
Hours, prices and menus change — always check the venue’s own site before you go. Spotted something out of date? We keep this directory current; details reflect our last check.
