Restaurant in North Bondi
An all-day Bondi bistro and aperitivo bar on Glenayr Avenue, pairing Mediterranean-leaning brunch plates with a Friday-to-Sunday dinner and cocktails.
Blackwood works the whole day from one address a few streets back from the sand: a genuine sit-down brunch of eggs, bowls and sandwiches in the mornings, then a proper evening menu of grilled fish, veal cotoletta and spatchcock come the weekend. Chef Rob Lechowicz brings a serious French-trained pedigree to what could easily have been just another beach cafe, and the aperitivo-and-cocktail side (drinks program tied to the Maybe Sammy team) gives it a grown-up second gear most all-day rooms don't have. We'd choose this when we want somewhere that can flex from a laptop-friendly late breakfast to an actual dinner without changing postcode.
For daytime, the big breakfast plate or one of the loaded bowls; at dinner, lean into the aperitivo snacks (oysters, prosciutto, cheese) and the grilled mains like snapper or the crumbed veal cotoletta.
Calm, contemporary room in soft greens and greys that lifts into a livelier aperitivo buzz on weekend evenings.
Local tip: The dinner service only runs Friday to Sunday evenings, so if you're picturing cocktails and cotoletta, aim for the back half of the week; midweek is a daytime-only affair.
Worth knowing: It's a backstreet address on Glenayr, not a beachfront table, so come for the food and the room rather than an ocean view.
Hours, prices and menus change — always check the venue’s own site before you go. Spotted something out of date? We keep this directory current; details reflect our last check.
