From the CBD, Circular Quay and the Opera House
The easy one. The 333 is a limited-stops bus that runs from Alfred Street at Circular Quay straight through the city to the beach, so you can skip the train entirely and stay on one bus - it's the direct city service to Bondi. Allow roughly 30 to 50 minutes; after the Opera House you can go from harbour to surf without working out a single connection. A taxi or rideshare is usually 25 to 45 minutes over the roughly 14 km, though the Eastern Distributor bunches up in peak hour - leave a buffer if a flight is involved. On public transport you've got two sensible options: take the T8 Airport & South Line into the city and change to a T4 train for Bondi Junction, or skip the train fee with the Route 350 bus, which runs from the Domestic Terminal to Bondi Junction via Mascot, Maroubra and Coogee. Either way you finish with a beach bus down to Campbell Parade.
From Manly and the Northern Beaches
Sydney's two most famous beaches sit on opposite sides of the harbour, so this is the long one - comfortably over an hour by public transport. My favourite route is also the most scenic: the Manly ferry to Circular Quay, then the 333 out to Bondi, which turns a slog into one of the best half-days in the city. Driving across the bridge or through the tunnel is genuinely unpredictable, so I'd budget 45 to 75 minutes.
You can drive, but I rarely recommend it. Street parking around Campbell Parade is metered, time-limited and fiercely contested on any warm weekend - nine times out of ten the train-and-bus combo beats circling for a space. Sort out the Bondi Junction connection, tap on, and the distance takes care of itself.
