Why we’d go

This is the Society group's clever "e Pesce" (and seafood) extension of their well-loved Bondi pizza bar, built around the idea that Bondi was short on great seafood. The kitchen runs a robata-style charcoal grill for skewers and whole plates alongside a proper Neapolitan pizza oven, so a table can split blistered pizza and Sicilian-dressed seafood in one sitting. We'd choose it when you want something more considered than a quick slice but still relaxed, loud and beach-adjacent rather than fussy.

What to order

Our pick is one from each side of the kitchen: a wood-fired pizza (the diavola and prawn-and-chilli are signatures) plus something off the charcoal robata grill — Yamba prawns, or tuna and salmon skewers with Sicilian salmoriglio. The slow-poached octopus carpaccio is a known starter, and cocktails are taken seriously.

The atmosphere

Bright, lively room built around an open kitchen and pizza oven, with playful Sicilian hand-gesture artwork on the walls.

Local tip: Weekdays it opens for dinner only (from around 5pm), but on Saturday and Sunday it runs all day from noon — so it's your daytime option here if you're coming straight off the beach for a long weekend lunch.

Worth knowing: It's a block back on Curlewis Street rather than on the promenade, so come for the food and buzz, not for ocean views.
