Restaurant in Bondi Beach

Milky Lane Bondi

An unapologetically indulgent burger-and-cocktail bar a block back from the sand on Curlewis Street, trading Bondi's acai-bowl wholesomeness for Wagyu-stacked burgers and over-the-top thickshakes.

Why we’d go

If you're coming straight off the beach and want something loud, cheesy and thoroughly un-virtuous, this is our pick for a no-fuss group feed. Milky Lane leans hard into the maximalist burger genre — think Wagyu-and-brisket towers, loaded fries and dessert-in-a-glass milkshakes — alongside a proper cocktail list that pushes it past a standard burger joint into after-dark territory. It's a chain rather than a Bondi original, but for what it does it's reliable, central and good fun with a crowd.

What to order

The stacked signature beef burgers (the Wagyu-brisket-and-bacon showstoppers are the whole point), loaded fries, and one of the theatrical thickshakes or a cocktail if you're settling in.

The atmosphere

Loud, neon-lit and unashamedly OTT — closer to a party than a quiet dinner.

Local tip: It's on Curlewis Street rather than the beachfront, so there's no ocean view — grab your burger here and, if the weather's good, it's a two-minute walk to eat with your feet in the sand instead. Book ahead on Friday and Saturday nights when it gets busy.

Worth knowing: It's a national chain and the maximalist burgers are rich and mid-priced, so don't come expecting a quiet, refined or distinctly local Bondi meal.
