Formerly Mami's Casa Latina.
Why we’d go
Run by Mexican-born couple Erendira and Juan Perez in the old Laurie's Vegetarian space, this is homey, unfussy Mexican cooking rather than a slick taqueria concept. We'd choose it for a cheap, cheerful, low-key feed off the beach: everything is priced under $20, it's fully BYO (with a discount deal at the bottle-o across the road), and the room is stacked with board games and family photos. It's the antithesis of the see-and-be-seen Bondi dinner.
What to order
Street tacos done as a mix-and-match set — the pork confit carnitas and the birria beef with consommé are the house signatures — plus quesadillas and nachos to share.
The atmosphere
Bright, casual and family-friendly; shared tables, board games and a homey Frida-Kahlo-blue fit-out.
Local tip: Grab your drinks first at The Royal Hotel bottle shop across the road — diners get a discount, and the whole place is BYO.
Worth knowing: It's up on Bondi Road well back from the sand, so there are no ocean views and it leans casual over polished.
