Why we’d go

Lulu is Raw Bar's more playful sibling, taking the 30-year Bondi sushi pedigree and pushing it across Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and China with heat and personality. Executive chef Shintaro Honda (ex-Raw Bar) and head chef Bryan O'Callaghan build a menu made for sharing, from crisp Hokkaido prawn-and-scallop toast to wagyu with sansho pepper, in a warm golden room with plush pink walls and a marble bar. We'd choose this for a lively group dinner or a date night that stretches later than planned, backed by proper cocktails rather than a rushed beachfront turnover.

What to order

Our pick is the signature Hokkaido prawn-and-scallop toast, plus the Lulu fried chicken and something off the raw/sushi side (nigiri, sashimi or a spicy salmon roll) that nods to the Raw Bar heritage; wagyu with sansho and Peking chicken anchor the larger shared plates, and the miso caramel monaka is the dessert to finish on.

The atmosphere

Warm, lively and polished — a golden, pink-walled room with marble bar and banquette seating.

Local tip: It's on Hall Street rather than the beachfront, so come for the food and drinks rather than a view — and it leans into the neighbourhood with weekday deals like $2 gyoza nights and weekend bottomless brunch, worth checking their socials before you book.

Worth knowing: No ocean views and a share-plate format that adds up quickly — this is a mid-to-upper spend night out, not a cheap post-swim bite.
