Why we’d go
This is one of the last of the old-guard Bondi Italians, a family operation that has stuck to honest pizza and pasta for nearly four decades while the rest of Campbell Parade reinvented itself. We'd choose it for a loud, warm, unpretentious dinner where the room is full of locals and regulars rather than a tasting-menu crowd. It's BYO-friendly and generous with portions, which makes it a genuinely good-value option in an increasingly expensive precinct.
What to order
Our steer here is the wood-style pizzas (the Calabrese has a following), the build-your-own pasta where you pair the shape with the sauce, the Zuppa di Cozze mussels as a starter, and tiramisu to finish.
The atmosphere
Buzzy, loud and cheerfully old-school — a proper neighbourhood trattoria that runs on energy.
Local tip: It's BYO for a small corkage per head, so grab a bottle from a nearby bottle shop before you sit — and book ahead, because the room fills fast on weekends.
Worth knowing: Dinner only (from 5pm) and service can slow right down when it's packed, so it's not the spot if you're in a hurry or want a lunchtime table.
