Why we’d go
This is a proper old-school French patisserie run by Normandy-born baker François Galand, who's been baking here since 2016 and has decades of experience behind him. Everything is made by hand on-site, from crackly baguettes and buttery croissants to the glass-case cakes, tarts and eclairs. If you want the real thing rather than the trend-driven cafe pastry, this is where we'd send you on the walk up Bondi Road.
What to order
Almond croissant, the goat's cheese tart, and the vanilla slice are the signatures; the classic French cakes (lemon tart, chocolate mousse, eclairs) and the savoury pies, quiches and sausage rolls are the other reasons to come.
The atmosphere
Small, unfussy neighbourhood bakery-cafe scented with fresh bread
Local tip: It sits up on Bondi Road rather than down by the sand, so grab your pastries here on the way to the beach rather than expecting an ocean-view sit-down.
Worth knowing: No beach views and limited seating — this is a bakery counter, not a destination brunch spot, and it's closed Mondays.
