Why we’d go

This is the kind of unpretentious neighbourhood cafe Bondi Road does well — hearty, generous plates and quick, friendly service without the polished brunch-scene markup. It's cheap (you'll do two people with drinks for around $30), it opens early enough to catch tradies and pre-work surfers, and the menu stays firmly in comfort territory: big breakfasts, rolls and even kebabs later in the morning. We'd point budget travellers and early risers here rather than the queue-and-be-seen spots down at the beach.

What to order

The bacon-and-egg roll, a full Aussie big breakfast, or one of the chicken/lamb kebabs later in the morning

The atmosphere

Relaxed, quick and genuinely local — a working cafe, not a scene

Local tip: It opens around 5am, so it's one of the few places you can get a proper cooked breakfast and a coffee before a dawn surf or an early shift — well ahead of the campbell-parade crowds.

Worth knowing: It winds down by early afternoon with no dinner service, and it's a functional greasy-spoon rather than a sit-and-linger brunch destination — and being up on Bondi Road, there's no ocean view.
