Train to Bondi Junction, then a bus (my pick for value)

Bondi Beach has no station of its own - the nearest is Bondi Junction, about 3 km up the hill. From the Domestic (T2/T3) or International (T1) terminal, follow the signs down to the Airport Link station beneath the terminal and catch the T8 Airport & South Line towards the city. Change at Central to the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line for Bondi Junction. At the interchange above that station, jump on the 333 or 380 - both reach Bondi Beach in about 15 minutes. Tap the same Opal or contactless card on and off the whole way. All up, allow 60-90 minutes.

The 350 bus - one seat to Bondi Junction

If you land at the Domestic terminal (T3), route 350 runs straight to Bondi Junction via Mascot and Coogee, so you skip the rail Station Access Fee entirely and just swap to the 333 or 380 at the far end for the run down to the beach. It's slower than the train but simpler with a suitcase and one less change. Note it serves the Domestic terminal only - from International, the 420 bus connects the terminals first.

Taxi or rideshare (fastest, door to door)

With luggage, kids, or a late landing, I'd take a taxi or rideshare - the only truly door-to-door option, dropping you right at your accommodation in 25 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis queue at the rank outside each terminal; rideshare has its own signed pickup zones, so follow the prompts in your app. Taxis run on a meter and rideshare quotes you before you confirm. Pre-booked transfers and shuttles suit groups or pre-dawn flights - reserve ahead and the price is locked in. Hiring a car rarely pays off unless you're touring beyond Sydney; around Bondi, parking is tight and metered, so an idle car is more hassle than help.

It's the same trip in reverse: the 333 or 380 up to Bondi Junction, the T4 to Central, then the T8 out to the Domestic or International station - or a taxi or rideshare straight from your door. The one thing to plan properly is time. Airlines commonly advise arriving 3 hours before international departures, and the public-transport trip is 60-90 minutes on top of that - so for an international flight I'd be leaving Bondi a good 4 hours or more before departure, earlier again in weekday peak traffic if you're going by road.
